They that wait…

”But those who entwine their hearts with Yahweh will experience divine strength. They will rise up on soaring wings and fly like eagles, run their races without growing weary, and walk through life without giving up.“

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭31‬ ‭TPT‬‬

I believe the version we’re all familiar with is ‘they that wait upon the Lord…’, waiting is difficult business quite frankly, the Hebrew word for waiting is quavah which, get this, means to plait, to intertwine.

I wonder how many times we’ve been in waiting seasons, how many times we’ve had to wait on God for something but today I’m here, not to tell you how your waiting period should look like or what you’re doing wrong, but to give an insight to what the concept is and hopefully, be able to give new perspective as to what we do when we’re in waiting periods henceforth.

Waiting is not passive, the entire idea of quavah unlike the normal understanding of waiting is to entwine ourselves with Yahweh like our anchor text tells us, we don’t just sit still and expect to get what we’re waiting for drop in our hands (except there’s an instruction to that effect), it’s more in the period of waiting that we should draw nearer to God, intertwine our lives, daily activities, thoughts with Him like the plaiting of hair or rope.

At times where we feel downcast because there will be, worship God, replace your complaints with worship, your blamings with praises, focus more on who He is than what He doesn’t seem to be doing for you. You can take practical steps like dancing in your room or listening to sermons centered on joy or waiting.

Also, don’t see waiting as an obstacle, embrace the process and let God work on you. Like the pregnant woman waiting for 9 months to deliver a child, there’s something being birthed on your inside whether you know it or not, don’t try to rush it.

And as you wait, you’re receiving more strength, the burden may not get lighter but you get stronger, Happy weekend MWJ family! May God give us strength to wait in Jesus’ Name!

Shalom!🤍
