Submission.

‘If life was based on feelings, there’d be no one on earth’.

Do you agree with that statement?

For real though, let’s think about it. How many times have we felt betrayed, disappointed, angered, frustrated, mentally unstable (even if it was for five minutes😂), sad, despondent- generally done with life?

Someone’s probably looking back now and thinking about the fact that he/she experienced that less than three minutes ago.

And now, look. We’re still alive, despite the fact that we felt we were done with life.

This simple analogy pretty much proves the accuracy of that statement. Just because we feel a certain way doesn’t mean we need to dwell continuously in that feeling or emotion.

Sadness? Identity crisis? Pleasure? Euphoria?

Yes, these feelings have an impact on our lives, even if it’s for a brief moment. But that doesn’t mean we should let them rule the way we walk with God in our daily lives.

For example, just because a married woman or a girl in a committed relationship finds her colleague or a passerby in the office attractive doesn’t mean she should go after the person. Why? Because she’s COMMITTED to her spouse or partner, under God’s jurisdiction.

It is important that as Christians, we are committed to Christ. That’s why in James 4:7, we’re told to submit ourselves to God. We’re told to commit all of our being to Him, for Him to rule and reign in our lives.

It is only when we commit ourselves into His hands in total submission that we would be able to resist the devil by His grace. The devil is a master at twisting these emotions and feelings into very strong and mighty tools against us, but when we submit to God completely, the Bible adds that we will resist the devil, and he will flee from us.

Let’s ensure not to dwell on feelings. There is a person who once wanted to be trans because she had an identity crisis, and was also tempted to become a lesbian because she was really attracted to this beautiful girl when she was younger, but she remembered the word of God in Leviticus 18:22, and knew she had to fight those feelings.

As odd as it sounds, even happiness is fleeting. So even though there are things that would make us madly happy (like stealing that money because it’s needed urgently in our family, telling those lies to save our hide, making that exaggeration just to feed your pride, kissing that person, transitioning to someone or something else), we must understand that we are children of God, and must submit to His will for our lives.

And children of God must continually labour until the day of the Lord, to be in a right standing with God. So, let’s ensure that we never take our hands off the plough and turn back.

It’s not easy, agreed, but remember, nothing in life is. And Christianity isn’t a trivial lifestyle at all.

That’s it for now. Don’t forget to send me an E-mail if you have questions.
