Patience (Not Ozokwor)

Image
I’m going to be real with you, being patient is hard. Whether it’s waiting for a text back, sitting in Lagos traffic, dealing with slow internet speed, or wondering when life will finally make sense, patience is one of those things we all wish we had but don’t enjoy developing. And yet, it’s a Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Meaning, it’s something God expects to grow in us, not something we magically wake up with. But how do you stay patient when everything around you screams, “Do it now! Get it now! Why are you waiting?!” Why Do We Even Need Patience? Patience isn’t just about sitting still and waiting, it’s about trusting God’s timing when things aren’t going our way. Think about Abraham. God promised him descendants as numerous as the stars (Genesis 15:5), but he had to wait 25 years before Isaac was born. David was anointed as king in his teenage years but didn’t take the throne until he was 30 (1 Samuel 16, 2 Samuel 5:4). Even Jesus, the Son of God, spent 30 years in pre...

By The Spirit

Zec 4:6-7 There are sometimes we would want to do things, but they don't seem to work out.  The question is why? According to the Bible text, God is telling us a man can't do anything by his strength.  One of the secrets of David is that he knew he couldn't do anything by himself, so he always went to God. The Holy spirit is the only one who can help you, that is why Jesus gave to us when he was going to heaven. The Spirit of God is wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. Isaiah 11:2.  Daniel possessed the spirit, that was why he could interpret the king's dream.  Beloved, I don't know what you really want to do, or what you have been trying to do but without God's intervention, the result won't come out well. It might even come out, but would crash at some point.  Always tell the Holy spirit to direct you, before taking any step

Tomorrow

“Come now, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a city and spend a year there and carry on our business and make money. Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen tomorrow. What is the nature of your life? You are [really] but a wisp of vapor (a puff of smoke, a mist) that is visible for a little while and then disappears [into thin air].” ‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬-‭14AMPC‬‬ I read something somewhere, ‘We often say life is short, enjoy it, how about Eternity is long, better prepare for it’ and it gives perspective. I’m sure the majority of us are familiar with the Bible text for today but let’s have in mind that while the message is that our lives are fleeting and we ought to restrain from making plans or statements without recognizing that uncertainty of life, today’s message is to make the best of today so that posterity thanks us. We don’t get to control tomorrow and believe you me, that’s amazing! It’s so amazing to know that the All-knowing G...

What is it you have to do?

James 4:17. "So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."  The Holy Spirit laid this on my heart when, for the umpteenth time, I did the wrong thing. Rather, I knew what the right thing to do was, and didn't do it. Many times as Christians we feel that following just the ten commandments or just the commandments Jesus gave in the New Testament is enough.  But as a preacher said in a sermon I listened to once, "When Moses came, there were 10 commandments written on stone tabs. When Jesus came, those commandments increased. And now that the Holy Spirit is here, the commandments are too numerous to count."  This is not necessarily because the number of known sins increased, but because the Holy Spirit knows what plan God has for our lives, and helps us to walk in that format. He has a pattern, 'the New Man', that we're supposed to look like in the end. When 2 Cor. 5:17 said we were to put on the new man, it wasn't ...
