INTENTIONALITY.

Hi, I’m Priscilla. I’m a Christian, like not just a churchgoer, a tough in-depth ambassador for Christ, and I’m not ashamed of it. I was even the leader of the prayer department back then in high school and I tell you it was fire, I was so close with God, not that everything was perfect but I did have a strong relationship with Him to the extent that if I said ‘God bless you’ I was so sure that you’d be blessed. My confidence in God was top-tier but ever since I graduated, my spiritual life has been off and on, I still believe in God, I still read my Bible as often as possible, I still try to do all those things but I don’t feel that connection again, it’s tiring as I’m supposed to be the light of the world but somehow I can’t even help myself out. What do I do?

Hi Priscilla, God bless you for reaching out! To your question what do you do? I will never be in the best position to give the perfect answer, although I can tell you this, talk to God, it’s a relationship, the same way if you had a friend and you were having issues with that person, you’d have to talk about it eventually to resolve it, talk to God through prayer, ask Him, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In whatever the situation don’t ever limit God, ask Him, if need be pour out your emotions first, tell Him exactly how you feel, cry, vent, everything trust me He knows already but the same way the landlord of a house can’t just enter a tenant’s house whenever they want despite being the first owner of that house, God won’t impose on your life, you have to give Him authorization, tell Him, ask for His help, now that’s a start.

Now something else that I’ve learnt over the years is intentionality. You know how you said you read your Bible as often as you can? Yes, do that more intentionally, don’t just do it to fulfill all righteousness or so you won’t feel guilty, do it because you want to, because you’re trying to connect, praise God intentionally, pray intentionally, fast intentionally, seek Him intentionally

Intentional living is co-authoring your life with the Creator of the universe (God) to make your highest contribution to yourself and the world.

After knowing God Priscilla, you make a plan to intentionally seek Him and carry on with this Christian race, then you align your movements, keep this plan in check, you could even keep a spiritual journal, ensure you’re doing it and you’re not missing any day and because you intentionally don’t want to. The moment you miss one day, it becomes easier to miss two, three and a lot more or you begin to rush through it, no understanding, no inviting the Holy Spirit, don’t do that.

Your friends, make godly friends, friends that you can talk to about this and can keep you in check, being there to support you when you fall.

Don’t let fasting be occasional (not starvation, fasting) and speak in tongues if you can, it edifies your Spirit.

Make the Holy Spirit your person, Jesus already gave Him to us; “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—”“the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14:16- 17‬ ‭NIV

Priscilla, there will always be times when we don’t feel connected, find that connection, make that connection, don’t make reading your Bible ‘often’, the way you need physical food to charge the physical body, you need the Word of God to charge the spiritual.

Some days it gets hard, some days it feels like you’re God’s favorite, either ways we’re called to worship Him in Spirit and in truth, seek Him diligently, find your light girl, send me an email if you still need more clarification. God bless you.
